What is it and how does it work?
The GAA Injury Benefit Fund provides support to registered members who suffer accidental bodily injuries while participating in official Gaelic Games playing activities. It is not an insurance policy. All participants take part in activities at their own risk. If you have personal insurance (such as private health or personal accident cover), you must claim through that first. The Injury Fund may then top up eligible costs, within set benefit limits.
Key benefits?
- Medical\dental expenses – Maximum of €5,500
- Loss of wages – weeks 2 – 26 to a maximum of €400 per week.

How to submit a claim?
- Claims must be submitted via Foireann by the player or, for underage players, a parent or guardian.
- The player must:
- Be a paid member on Foireann on the date of injury.
- Have a valid 2025 membership number.
- Injury claims must be registered within 60 days (the day of injury is Day 1).
- Claims are sent to the relevant GAA unit for validation.
- A referee’s report (for official matches/challenges) or
- A letter on club-headed paper (for collective, supervised training) is required to validate the claim.
- Once validated, claims are sent to Allianz for processing.
- Allianz will email the claimant with a link to upload all required documents.
- If approved, payments will be issued by electronic transfer.
- If additional details are needed, Allianz will contact the claimant to resolve the issue.
Please note: Claims containing incorrect or incomplete information may be rejected, and a new notification must then be submitted.
