KilmaleyGAA AGM: 2015

The Annual General Meeting of Kilmaley GAA took place on Sunday 29th of November in the Kilmaley GAA Clubhouse.

Chairman Vincent Wall commenced the meeting with a minute silence for all who had died within the parish during the past 12 months.

Secretary Vincent Hennessy outlined the activities of the past year, highlighting the successes of the Feile, U15A, U16A, and U21A teams on winning their respective championships. He also highlighted a notable milestone in the clubs history as the first games were played in our new facilities at Lisbiggeen.

Treasurer Emmet Pyne presented a detailed summary of the clubs financial position. He outlined the need to increase the number of lotto sellers in 2016. It was confirmed that the clubs summer camp had made a slight profit in 2015, and that the cost of sliotars had decreased from €6,000 to €4,500 during the last 12 months. There was however the extra cost of a Clare GAA levy in relation to the redevelopment of Cusack Park, and an overall increase in day-to-day costs as the club must now factor in the increased cost of maintaining 2 extra playing pitches. Emmet paid tribute to the clubs sponsor, in particular Carney's Bar and Clare Car and Tractor Parts, as well as the private donations received to help fund the U12's trip to Croke Park and the U14's Feile trip to Thurles.

In his report Chairman Vincent Wall paid tribute to the work of all the volunteers that did so much during the preceding 12 months. He highlighted the fact that for the first time the club had fielded 2 teams in every age group from U12 to U21, and that the numbers at the clubs summer camp increased to 170 hurlers and camogie players. He also thanked Kier McNamara for organising a heart screening during the year. Vincent thanked the McMahon family for their generous contribution in memory of Eugene, which will be used to build a new hurling wall.

Tom McNamara outlined the success of the past year in laying the second playing pitch and the wonderful sight of seeing the first games taking place in the new development. He conveyed the sympathy of the committee to the McMahon family on the sad passing of Eugene, who had done Trojan work to help bring the present pitches to fruition. He confirmed that John Carmody had stepped down as treasurer during the year and has been replaced by Donie Neylon.

Each manager than gave a detailed report of the year.
